“For God does not show favoritism.”
Romans 2:11
Have you ever been picked last?
Have you ever felt as if you were less important to people than others?
I have been there too–time and time again. It is so hard and it hurts. Growing up, I never felt like enough. It felt as if I was rarely picked first. Thought of first. Seen first. And to be vulnerable with ya’ll, I’ve recently been chasing this vapor of temporary love and lust. Each one of these guys I have given my heart to has only left me feeling empty and less than. They wanted someone they believed to be better –they gave me attention because I was their second pick. That hurts, friends. And if you’ve been there or are there right now, I am so sorry. Can I give you some encouragement and peace of mind, though?
Friend, God has never picked you last. Never has he thought of you last nor has he thought to pick someone else over you. Jesus doesn’t show favoritism. It is easy to look at this verse and take it to mean that you are not better than someone else. That God will never love you more than someone else. Which yes, is true. But, the Lord gave me a new revelation this morning: God doesn’t favor someone else over me. He will never pick me last. He loves me just as much as He loves someone else and I don’t have to earn this love. It is given unconditionally. The same goes for you, friends. You are enough. Jesus will never pick you last.
Jesus loves you and so do I,
-Malia
